An unusual museum awaits visitors in Karosta. It is a real prison that practically has not changed since the times of the Tsar. You can see the layout of the cells, experience what it felt like as a prisoner in solitary confinement and find out about the history of different time periods and their ruling powers.

Visitors can experience the reality show “Behind Bars” and try to escape from the “Escape Room”. More adventurous types will enjoy a night in a prison cell.

Karosta Prison Museum can only be visited with a guide. Tours begin on top of every hour. Visitor groups of more than 10 people are advised to book in advance.

Karosta Prison also has a Visitor Centre where you can get detailed information on Karosta and Liepāja, buy souvenirs, book a guided tour of Karosta and Liepāja, watch the short film “Karosta”, and have a meal in a Soviet era buffet.
