Great news for the residents of Liepāja! A founding of the “Liepāja Restoration Centre” has been announced, aiming to gather and unite city’ historic building owners, landlords, restorers, architecture enthusiasts and professionals.

The primary aim of the organisation is to become the leading restoration association in the city, and its vision for the future includes the creation of a freely accessible co-creative restoration workshop that would provide everyone with both educational and practical support and a range of tools necessary for restoration work.

To address, inform and involve the target audience of the Centre, in August and September 2022, the Centre will launch a series of kick-off activities such as discussions, educational lectures and masterclasses “KNOW / APRECIATE/ PRESERVE”, which will be open to everyone free of charge.

Further information about the series will be available on the Facebook page of the Liepāja Restoration Centre.

The founder, creator, and author of the idea of the ” Liepāja Restoration Centre” is Ivars Pilips Matisons, a project manager and exhibition curator of the Liepāja High School of Music, Art and Design Department of Wood Products Design, who gained his previous practical work experience by working in Agris Padelis-Līns office as an assistant architect and in the design studio “Teika” as a design project manager. For several years, Ivars has held the position of Chairman of the State Culture Capital Foundation’s Design and Architecture Expert Committee and Member of the Council, and he holds a bachelor’s degree from the Latvian Academy of Arts.
