Together with Liepāja’s guides, you’ll have the chance to explore places not included in regular tourist routes, learn historical facts, and hear personal stories. Participation in the tours is free. No prior registration is required.

Around Jānis Čakste Square
During the tour, you’ll learn about the transformations of the square from its establishment to the present day and events connected to the location, such as President J. Čakste’s visit to Liepāja in 1924 and Liepāja’s 300th anniversary celebrations in 1925. You will also have the chance to visit the Jānis Čakste High School museum.

Officers’ District in Karosta
This will be a story about the greatest and strongest tsars of the Russian Empire, about seven regimes, and the unusual fortress that was never used in warfare. You’ll hear about the beautiful swing bridge, officers’ balls, a Russian polar explorer who served in Karosta for three years, the Cathedral with its matte grey domes, the park, the heroes of the War of Independence, the port, the sea, and carrier pigeons.

Personalities and Events in Jaunliepāja Through the Centuries
Jaunliepāja holds many interesting stories. Together with the guide, you’ll embark on a journey through the centuries and learn about emigrants who arrived in Liepāja by train to continue their journey by ship to the dreamland of America, the colourful fairs at Anna’s Market, and the final resting place of several prominent Liepāja residents in the Old Cemetery.
