On Saturday, November 9, at 1.00 p.m., the 17th–19th-century interior museum “Madam Hoijere’s Guest House” at Kungu street 24 in Liepāja invites everyone to Bread day. Baker Aivars Ozols will be busy by the bread oven, while folk musician Ēriks Zeps will bring a lively atmosphere to restaurant “Hoijeres krogs”.

The now traditional Bread day at Hoijere’s Guest House will begin when baker Aivars Ozols places loaves made from natural sourdough and prepared according to an old family recipe into a 17th-century-style bread oven.

On Bread day, everyone who is interested will have the chance to participate in the bread-baking process and even take some sourdough starter home. The sweet-and-sour bread baked in Hoijere’s oven will be available for purchase from 1.00 p.m., and, as usual, the baker will also have brought rye loaves and the popular “sklandu” pies baked overnight, which can be purchased from 11.00 a.m.

Starting at 1.00 p.m., folk musician Ēriks Zeps will provide the musical ambiance in restaurant “Hoijeres krogs”. Ēriks, the leader of the post-folk group “Rikši”, began his solo career in Liepāja with performances at Hoijere’s House and is known for creating an authentically festive mood with his charisma and energy.

On Bread day, visitors are also invited to explore the museum’s 17th–19th-century interior exhibits, offering a small journey back through the centuries.

Alongside bread baking and music, visitors can enjoy delicious lunch options and drinks from restaurant “Hoijeres krogs”. Table reservations are recommended: +371 26 672 124.
