On Saturday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the 17th-19th century interior museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House” invites Liepāja residents and city guests to enjoy Bread Day. As usual, the bread oven in the mantelpiece will come alive with activity starting at 11 a.m., thanks to master baker Aivars Ozols. At 1 p.m., the warm aroma of freshly baked bread will fill the air as loaves are taken out of the oven to the sound of the Rucava folk chapel Paurupīte.
From the very beginning of the 17th-19th century interior museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House”, one of its missions has been to revive historical traditions. Among these, bread baking holds a special place, and Bread Day at Hoijere House has become a particularly popular and beloved event for the past three years.
From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Rucava folk chapel Paurupīte will perform in the historical premises of Hoijere Krog. For more than 20 years, the chapel has promoted folk music, as well as the local cultural and folklore heritage. Over the years, they have hosted numerous events, delighting audiences not only in the Liepāja region but throughout Latvia.
As always, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at Hoijere Krog, soaking up the atmosphere of a genuine historical tavern—complete with music, folk songs, and possibly even dancing.
Throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., guests are invited to explore the 17th-19th century interior museum “Madame Hoyer’s Guest House”. Discover the authentic 17th-century interior on the building’s first floor, and on the second floor, step into the apartment of an affluent 19th-century Liepāja family. Knowledgeable and friendly museum guides will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Photography and video recording will take place during the event. The materials may be used for publicity purposes on the website and social media accounts of the Liepāja Interior Museum and the Liepāja Museum.
