On Sunday, November 30, Rožu Square will transform into a place filled with sparkling joy, beautiful festive melodies, and the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread. Throughout the day, residents of Liepāja and city guests are invited to enjoy Christmas wonders, culminating in a concert by Lauris Reiniks and the lighting of the city’s main Christmas tree.
From 12:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 15:00, both children and adults are invited to visit the main Christmas tree, which will not only delight with its festive decorations but will also reveal a true Christmas miracle. The tree will chat with visitors, sing beloved holiday songs, and answer the most curious questions. Young adventurers will be especially welcomed by Santa Claus, who will join in games and listen to children’s heartfelt wishes.
At 13:00, the Liepāja Vocal Art Studio STARI will take the stage together with friends from the Liepāja Youth Theatre, performing the musical play “The Christmas of Good Thoughts”. During the performance, the audience will meet hardworking elves and forest animals who, in a playful way, learn Christmas traditions and reveal the true meaning of the holiday, involving everyone in songs, dances, and joyful games.
From 12:00 to 21:00, a Christmas gift market will be open in Rožu Square, offering specially crafted seasonal gifts and treats. Visitors will find warm mittens, Christmas ornaments, knitted items, Advent wreaths, fragrant candles, linen clothing, and Christmas-themed cosmetics from Latvian producers. Food lovers will be tempted by delicious jams, candied fruits, Christmas tea blends, and various beekeeping products. Vendors will also offer wooden toys, beautiful jewellery, and other heartfelt gifts.
At 19:00, musician Lauris Reiniks will take the stage in Rožu Square, delighting visitors with heartfelt ballads and beloved Christmas songs. Everyone is invited to sing along to “Sirds sadeg neparasti,” “Tik balti,” “Pasakā,” “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” and many other well-known holiday tunes. Moments before the tree lighting, the evening’s main task will be entrusted to the Chairman of the Liepāja City Council, Gunārs Ansiņš, who will light the city’s main Christmas tree with a sparkling touch of magic, marking the beginning of the Christmas season.
With the lighting of the tree, festive decorations will illuminate the city, and the Christmas tram will begin its route, bringing Christmas spirit throughout Liepāja.
