Riga. The Latvian airline airBaltic has announced that it will operate pop-up flights from Riga to Liepaja, Latvia, during both the 2024 World Rally Championship’s (WRC) leg – Tet Rally Latvia, and the Summer Sound music festival.

Flights are scheduled from July 11 to July 22, and from August 1 to August 5, operating twice a week (to Liepaja on Thursdays and Sundays, to Riga on Mondays and Fridays). One-way ticket prices for Economy Classic and Business have been set at 39 EUR and 99 EUR, respectively. There will be only one upsell level applicable for economy class. Tickets are already available at www.airbaltic.com.

Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic: “Resuming flights to Liepaja has been a topic on our agenda since the pandemic, and we know that there is demand, with many people looking forward to regular travel between the capital and Latvia’s third-largest city for work, study, culture, and entertainment purposes. We are pleased to use our new pop-up flights concept to allow seamless travel to this summer’s major events – the rally and music festival, thus supporting network effect and fostering connectivity with Riga and other countries as well.”

“Moreover, airBaltic has continuously strong connections with Liepaja, as it is the location of the airBaltic Pilot Academy base, a technical hangar, and an office. We are looking forward to announcing more pop-up flights throughout the year, whether it’s for major events or new exciting destinations,” Gauss added.

As it has been mentioned before, airBaltic will also operate pop-up flights from Riga to Ostrava, Czech Republic during the period of the Latvian men’s national hockey team’s games in the IIHF 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship. Flights are scheduled for May 11, 13, 17, 20, and 22, and tickets are still available for purchase.

Flights between Riga and Liepaja are scheduled to take 45 minutes.

The flights will be operated by Airbus A220-300 aircraft – one of the most efficient commercial aircraft in the skies. The A220-300 offers an excellent flying experience with such benefits for passengers as wider seats, larger windows, more hand luggage space in the cabin, improved lavatories, and delivering better overall performance, fuel efficiency, and convenience for both passengers and the staff.

airBaltic operates more than 130 routes from Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Tampere and, seasonally, Gran Canaria, offering connections to a wide range of destinations in the airline’s route network in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region.
