From 16 to 25 October, 18 restaurants across the city invite you to Liepāja Restaurant Week! For ten days, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy special seasonal menus, discover the diversity of Liepāja’s restaurants and experience food culture and culinary arts as an important part of culture. Dishes created by the chefs will become creative works in which flavour, form, texture and story come together to create a shared experience. This autumn, Liepāja’s restaurants will become stages where flavour takes the leading role.
As 2027 approaches, when Liepāja will become a European Capital of Culture, the city’s restaurants invite us to look at the story of culture from a broader perspective. Restaurant Week is more than an opportunity to enjoy a special meal. It is also a chance to highlight the work of restaurants, the creativity of chefs and culinary arts as an integral part of Liepāja’s cultural life. Culture is shaped not only by concerts, performances and exhibitions, but also by people, their ideas, traditions and the ways in which they create experiences for others.
Restaurant Week gives chefs the opportunity to explore new ideas, experiment and create something new. Each plate becomes a creative work in which flavour is complemented by form, colour, texture and story. In this way, the restaurant becomes a place where culture is not only seen or heard – it can also be tasted.
The story of Liepāja Restaurant Week brings together different fields of culture – this autumn represented by actor Valts Skuja and singer Atvara. Just as in theatre and music, a restaurant experience is shaped by emotion, storytelling and atmosphere, all coming together around the table. Each Restaurant Week participant has its own cuisine, atmosphere and approach to creating food. Together, they form Liepāja’s gastronomic landscape. Restaurant Week invites visitors to rediscover familiar places, explore restaurants they have not yet visited, and meet the people and ideas behind each dish.
Liepāja Restaurant Week invites you not only to choose a restaurant and a meal, but also to see the chef as an author, the dish as a creative work and the restaurant as a place where different worlds of Liepāja’s culture meet around one table.
