To celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of Latvia on May 4 in an active and erudite way, Liepāja residents and guests are invited to participate in the exciting orienteering games for teams “Liepāja’s Footprints in Latvia”, which will take place for the tenth time this year.

The orienteering games are designed as an educational walk or ride around the city and are intended for friends, families and teams who want to spend time actively while learning interesting facts about Liepāja and its importance in Latvian history and culture. Taking part in the Games is a good opportunity to strengthen team spirit, promote physical activity and just have a good time.

Please note that the orienteering map will be available digitally, in a special app, so participants (teams) need at least one smart device (phone, tablet, etc.) with an internet connection.

The traditional checkpoints of the orientation game “Liepāja’s footprints in Latvia” are planned to be located in places where new objects or services have been developed in recent years, where it is possible to have meaningful leisure time, as well as to learn new and interesting facts about Latvia and Liepāja in both historical and contemporary contexts.

Team registration and the opening ceremony will take place on 4 May at J. Čakste Square, while the finish line will be traditionally at 6 Rožu Street (in front of the Liepaja City Council building). After the finish, all participants will be welcomed together with all Liepāja residents and guests for a festive concert and awards ceremony at J. Čakste Square.
