Liepāja Region Tourism Information Office (LRTIO) has gathered statistics on the city’s tourism development in 2025.

According to data from the Central Statistical Bureau (hereinafter – CSB), 119,840 tourists stayed overnight in Liepāja in 2025, which is 0.9% less than in 2024. The number of nights spent in Liepāja’s accommodations decreased by 4.6%, totalling 206,461 nights. Breaking down the composition of guests, the ratio of Latvian to foreign tourists in Liepāja’s accommodations in 2025 was 62% to 38%. The number of Latvian guests decreased by 0.2%, while the number of overnight stays declined by 3.4%. The number of foreign tourists decreased by 2.1%, and their overnight stays also declined by 6.2%. The average length of stay in Liepāja’s accommodations in 2025 was 1.72 nights.

When analysing the data on an annual basis, as usual, the highest number of guests in Liepāja’s accommodations was recorded during the three summer months, when 40.7% of the total annual number of overnight stays occurred.

In 2025, the annual average occupancy rate for guest rooms in Liepāja was 37.4%, while the occupancy rate for beds was 30.6%. According to CSB data, accommodations in Liepāja had their highest occupancy rate in August, with an average of 62.9% of guest rooms and 56.5% of beds occupied.

The top three foreign guests to Liepāja accommodations remained the same as in 2024. The largest number of overnight guests came from Lithuania (18,004; 39.1% of all foreign overnight guests; change compared to 2024: -2.7%), Germany (6,471; 14%; +15%), and Estonia (3,613; 7.8%; +0.8%). Next came Poland (1,909; 4.1%; +11.2%), Denmark (1,866; 4.1%; -4.7%), the USA (1,736; 3.8%; -2.9%), Finland (1,580; 3.4%; +12.5%), and the United Kingdom (1,390; 3%; -42.2%).
In total, guests from 109 countries around the world stayed in Liepāja in 2025 (103 in 2024), with at least 100 tourists arriving from 27 countries.

In 2025, a total of 193 yachts from 12 countries, mostly from Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Finland, Latvia, and Sweden, visited the “Liepāja Marina” yacht harbour. The “Nordstjernen,” a Norwegian cultural heritage ship, docked twice in the trade channel, and the “World Traveller,” a ship from the “Atlas Ocean Voyages” cruise line, docked at the Free Port.

The Liepāja Region Tourism Information Office (hereinafter – LRTIO) served 19,133 visitors in person in 2025, representing a 22.6% increase from the previous year. Of those visitors, 17% were Latvian, 40% were foreign, and 43% were local. The most frequent visitors seeking information were from countries such as Lithuania, Germany, Poland, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United States. In total, LRTIO served tourists from 69 countries in 2025.

In 2025, Liepāja guides led 161 tours booked through LRTIO, introducing nearly 3,000 guests to the city’s history and present-day life. Meanwhile, 796 visitors participated in the daily summer “Let’s Meet at Rose Square!” walk, and 595 visitors explored Liepāja’s Old Town on guided weekend walks throughout the rest of the year.
